Charge Capture version 1.1 added the ability to import data of different types. The Import feature is accessed via the Data tab. Once there, tapping the Edit button will reveal the Import feature.
File Format
Four types of data can be imported into the program. Each has a specific accepted format. All files must be Tab-delimited (i.e., a Tab between each data item of a record, a Return after each record). The ICD-9 and CPT codes are imported with the format:
code (Tab) description (Return)
In text format that is represtented as:
code\tdescription\r
The Locations format contains only the title of the facility in question. The People format includes several items:
first name (Tab) middle name (Tab) last name (Tab) DOB (Return)
or more specifically:
first name\tmiddle name\tlast name\tDOB\r
Online Storage
Once you have the data in the correct format, the files have to be placed somewhere that Charge Capture can access them. I recommend Dropbox. Dropbox provides a free and secure online repository for data files like the ones Charge Capture can access. Visit their web site to take a tour. Once the data file is in a location accessible by URL (e.g., online at an http address), the program can access it via the Import function.
Import File
Tapping 'Import' within the Data tab takes you to the Import File screen (see screenshot #3). Enter the server and file name data to create the correct complete URL. Dropbox provides a method to determine a files URL by clicking the 'Copy public link' option on the file in question (see screenshot #2). Simply copy that information into the server and file name sections and tap 'Go' to initiate the import of data.
Import Data
Once Charge Capture has a legitimate data file to import, it will parse the data and show the items to import in the Import Data screen (see screenshot #4). Importing these items will add them directly to Charge Capture's database for immediate use in the program.
Original Data
Original data is available in my public Dropbox. This is available in the case that a user wishes to "start over" with an original database of codes. Utilize the 'Delete ALL" option in the Data tab. Then import the original data files with the following links:
