June 6, 1998 JRAd consulting, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of a new plug-in for version 2.2 of Palmedic. The new Segment Note plug-in expands Palmedic's note writing capabilities by breaking up a note into segments. Using a combination of methods (macros, handwriting recognition, Transcriptionist(TM), and special features like automatic import of a segment from a previous note (e.g., Physical Exam, Assessment)), a user automatically creates notes of any kind. Included templates demonstrate the power and flexibility of this new plug-in. A History and Physical template automatically loads the current medications, the past medical history, and procedure history. The Physical Exam section can be entered using Transcriptionist(TM), handwriting recognition, or pulled in from a previous segment note. Current laboratories are automatically entered into the note, and much more. A Progress Note template enters current medications, recent laboratories, current vital signs, and the previous note's physical exam and assessment. It like all other segment notes allows the entry of other segments using macros, handwriting recognition, or the Transcriptionist(TM) program. Other note templates are included as further example of what this new plug-in can do. The Segment Note plug-in allows for easy definition of custom templates so that one can easily and automatically write any sort of note. This plug-in is further evidence that virtually anything can be done with Palmedic 2.x through the use of plug-ins. The plug-in is free to registered users of Palmedic 2.x. You are invited to visit the web page describing the plug-in at for further information about its capabilities. Contact: J Rick Adams, M.D. JRAd consulting, Inc. supportat jrad http://www.jrad.com
